Most Wi-Fi devices use a "reverse polarity" SMA connector. A standard
SMA male connector has a male center pin with female threads. A
standard SMA Female has a female center socket with male threads. RP
connectors reverse this -- a center male pin with male threads, female
socket with female threads.
But!!! The RP connector with male pin and male threads is still
referred to as a female.
We don't know why, but that's the way it is. Most often, the device
has a female RP connector, so to add a standard SMA antenna or cable you
would use the SMA Female to RP-Male adapter. |
